Our borough is beginning a huge transformation. With ambitious regeneration plans, a need for new infrastructure, and plenty of investment on the way, things are changing. And we are transforming our organisation to be better equipped to have the greatest impact for our community. We need leaders to take us on the journey.
This is an exciting opportunity to become the Council’s lead OD professional – working to ensure that our people have the right skills, systems and techniques to enable growth, innovation and cultural transformation to deliver outstanding services for residents and businesses.
As the Council sets out to transform and modernise how it operates, it’s essential that staff are supported and equipped to make the changes they need to be successful in a modern, engaging and agile organisation. We’re investing in staff so that they can excel at what they do and embrace opportunities for professional and personal development as part of the Redbridge team - nurturing future leaders.
This role is about more than just delivering high quality training. We are looking for someone who can look to the future and anticipate future demands and skills gaps, and work in partnership with senior colleagues to enable our workforce to adapt. From our highly successful graduate and apprenticeship programmes, through to developing organisational leadership, you will help define what a modern and agile public service organisation looks like and enable us to develop talent from within to thrive in such a setting. A committed advocate for equalities and opportunity, you’ll be able to articulate a compelling message around the importance of a diverse workforce and what it can add to an organisation.
You’ll have an integral part to play in the delivery of the Council’s People Strategy, working closely with HR colleagues to offer expert professional advice to Elected Members, the Chief Executive, Directors and senior managers in all areas of OD.
It’s an opportunity that will suit someone with current and detailed knowledge of OD best practice, and a thorough understanding of the skills needs of local government and the wider public sector. We expect that you will be professionally qualified (Chartered Member CIPD or above) and that you have a proven track record of leading OD services at a strategic/senior management level. It’s vital that you have the personal presence and relationship skills to influence decision-making at a strategic level, and ensure that we continue to adapt and refine how we work.
