Our borough is beginning a huge transformation. With ambitious regeneration plans, a need for new infrastructure, and plenty of investment on the way, things are changing. And we are transforming our organisation to be better equipped to have the greatest impact for our community. We need leaders to take us on the journey.

This is a key role within the Council, acting as the professional lead for HR and the development of our People Strategy - ensuring that it is successfully embedded into all aspects of our work.

You will provide a highly effective and professional HR service that supports the delivery of our Corporate Plan and our improvement activity, delivering expert HR advice to Elected Members, the Chief Executive, Directors and senior managers. You will ensure that organisational values and behaviours are clearly communicated and understood and that effective systems and processes establish these as integral elements of how the organisation manages performance. Effective use of performance data and evidence will be critical in shaping modern and impactful HR practice. You can expect to contribute at both a strategic and operational level and will ensure a strong people and wellbeing focus through strong relationships with senior managers, Elected Members and Union representatives.

You’ll play a central role in articulating and delivering Redbridge’s career proposition – at all levels within the organisation, and throughout the full life cycle of people’s careers within the Council. From first-class on-boarding to ongoing professional development and succession planning, you’ll help to ensure that we nurture and retain talent from within and that our workforce is representative of our diverse community, at all levels.

We expect that you will be professionally qualified (Chartered Member CIPD or above) and that you are already experienced in providing expert advice on HR policy and practice at a senior level. It’s important that you have a good appreciation of local government operations, its political interface and the management of employee relations within a unionised setting. You should have proven experience of developing and delivering strategies that support organisational improvement and change, and you should have a good appreciation of the complexity of cultural as well as operational transformation.

 Closing date: 8th September
