Contract: Full-time, 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday 

Location: 30 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3EE. Hybrid working

Reports to: Director of HR UK and Spain, with a dotted reporting line to Director of HR USA

Salary: £52,000 – £56,000 per annum depending on skills and experience

Job Purpose

We are seeking an experienced learning and development manager to take responsibility for the identification of training and development needs for employees across the UK, Spain and USA (further locations may be added). This is a new role which will primarily design, develop and deliver training and development activities to Edconic employees. The role holder will, on occasion, identify and appoint external specialists for training and development activities.    

 

The role holder will oversee all mandatory training, ensuring its timely completion. 

 

There will be occasional travel to Madrid and New York to facilitate and / or deliver in-person training.

 

The position requires the ability to build and maintain positive, professional relationships, and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues. The role requires excellent communication, teamwork, and a commitment to maintaining a productive work environment that upholds organisational values and objectives.   

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deliver effective training programs, workshops, and materials both in-person and virtually
  • Monitor and evaluate training program effectiveness and continuously improve based on feedback and business needs
  • Maintain records of training activities, attendance, and results
  • Plan, coordinate, and host virtual Global Professional Development Days for staff, including identifying themes, securing speakers or facilitators, managing logistics, and ensuring a high-quality learning experience
  • Develop and deliver a broad range of line manager training sessions
  • Working with the Directors of HR, develop an improved comprehensive induction process for new employees
  • Design and deliver periodic new starter group induction sessions, securing relevant internal and external speakers
  • Ensure that new legislative training needs are met for employees
  • Review the requirements of training for workers and self-employed contractors, and design and deliver training or materials as required
  • Deliver annual training on the appraisal process
  • Monitor the use of the internal on-line training platforms, including iHasco (UK), and assign relevant courses as necessary
  • Undertaking projects related to Reward and / or Organisational Development, dependent on skills and experience

Person Specification - Skills, Experience and Qualifications

 

Essential Criteria

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • CIPD level 7 qualification
  • Significant experience of developing and delivering training and development to a broad audience
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Proactive and a self-starter able to work without close supervision
  • Experience of maintaining records and producing training evaluation reports
  • Sound knowledge of UK employment law to be able to create and deliver on a range of policies and procedures such as Recruitment and Selection, Equality Act, Sickness Absence Management
  • Willingness to obtain a basic understanding of Spanish and American employment law to inform training and development needs

 

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of working in the education sector
  • Spanish language proficiency
  • HR generalist experience
  • Specific training and experience in either Reward or Organisational Development
