We have an exciting opportunity to join our People Team as Head of Human Resources. The role covers Scotland, with most of the team based in Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Inverness – we’re therefore flexible on your base location.
The People Team sits within Corporate Services and includes the following specialist functions: Human Resources, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Learning and Organisational Development, and Health, Safety and Wellbeing. We support Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) and our sister agency, Scottish Forestry (SF), through innovative and practical HR services. With a well-established business partnering model, our highly committed team provides strategic, operational, and transactional HR support across all regions and directorates.

To be successful, you will bring significant senior-level HR experience, ideally within a unionised environment, with a strong track record of influencing senior leaders, leading large HR teams, and managing complex change. You’ll have expert knowledge of employment law, experience in budget and reward/pay negotiations, and a history of driving high performance and engagement. MCIPD status and a relevant degree (or equivalent) are essential. Familiarity with HR systems such as iTrent and experience with project management methodologies are desirable.
