Our client, a successful and growing University is now seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Head of People Services to join their People and Culture team on a permanent basis.

Please note; this role offers hybrid working arrangements requiring a minimum of 2 days per week working from the London offices.

As Head of People Services you will play a pivotal role in the driving and implementing the university's people strategy and operational plans in alignment with the university's corporate strategy. Reporting to the Director of People and Culture and with responsibility for a small team, you will lead the design and continuous improvement of the university's people operations and recruitment services, ensuring high quality and efficient delivery.

This will include overseeing all people operations activity covering recruitment, contracts, onboarding, employment changes, pay and benefits, and workforce data. You will also evolve an d enhance operational excellence, provide detailed data analysis and reporting to drive strategic decision making and much more!

This role will suit a collaborative and dynamic leader and manager who can comfortably work at both a strategic level to drive change and improvement and at an operational level to ensure the effective and efficient day-to-day management of People Service.

To be considered you will require:

  • MCIPD qualification or equivalent relevant professional experience
  • Substantial experience of managing HR operations across the full employment lifecycle, including recruitment, contracts, onboarding and pay and benefits administration
  • Detailed knowledge of different contractual forms of staff engagement, together with up-to-date knowledge of associated employment legislation
  • Extensive knowledge of using and developing HR information systems (ideally MHR iTrent), including experience of designing and implementing new and HR processes, and using HR data to inform decisions
  • Experience of using HRIS to extract, manipulate and analyse data, and presenting statistical and numerical information for internal, external and statutory reporting purposes
  • Sound understanding of reward, compensation and benefits and grading structures
  • Previous experience of undertaking of job evaluation
  • Experience of HR practice in Higher Education, including knowledge of HESA, UKVI and other sector-specific requirements would be desirable
