My client is seeking an experienced HR Generalist who thrives in a hands‑on SME environment. Do you enjoy partnering with senior leaders, shaping people processes, and delivering high‑impact HR support across the full employee lifecycle? If so, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing utilities organisation as they rebuild and strengthen their People function.

The Role

As HR Generalist, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering end‑to‑end HR support across the business. This is a varied, people‑focused role where you’ll be trusted to build strong relationships with Heads of Department and senior stakeholders while driving consistent, high‑quality HR practice.

You will be responsible for:

  • End‑to‑end recruitment: managing the full hiring cycle, from briefing to offer
  • Onboarding & induction: ensuring a seamless and engaging new starter experience
  • Employee lifecycle management: contracts, changes, probation, performance, development
  • ER casework: supporting managers with ER cases
  • Coaching & advisory support: guiding leaders on people matters and best practice
  • Policies & process improvement: reviewing, updating, and embedding HR policies
  • Comms & engagement: supporting internal communications and culture initiatives
  • Stakeholder management: building trusted relationships with senior leaders

This is a true generalist role suited to someone who enjoys variety, autonomy, and being a visible partner to the business.

About You

We’re looking for someone who brings:

  • Proven experience as an HR Generalist within an SME or similar environment
  • Background in utilities / white‑collar sectors
  • Strong recruitment experience and confidence in managing the full hiring cycle
  • Solid grounding in ER casework and HR policy
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • A proactive, solutions‑focused approach with the confidence to work at pace

Benefits

  • £40,000 salary
  • 6‑month contract with potential for extension
  • Hybrid working
  • Opportunity to join a business at a pivotal moment as they rebuild and modernise their People team
  • A varied, impactful generalist role where you can genuinely shape HR delivery
