You will lead on the development of fit‑for‑purpose HR policies, ensure compliance with employment law and sector‑specific regulations, and work collaboratively with trade unions and school leaders. As a trusted partner, you will build strong relationships, offer decisive and pragmatic advice, and support senior leaders with complex casework, change management, TUPE processes, safeguarding matters and day‑to‑day employee relations. The role also involves delivering tailored HR training, supporting recruitment and job evaluation, proactively managing sickness abse nce, and contributing to data analysis and reporting. You'll be encouraged innovate to improve services, and manage projects effectively, all while maintaining up‑to‑date professional knowledge and demonstrating high standards of customer care.
What you'll need to succeed
The successful candidate will bring proven experience advising on a wide range of HR matters, including disciplinary, grievance, capability, redundancy and TUPE, as well as managing complex casework. They will demonstrate strong working employment law knowledge. With experience working in a unionised environment, delivering training, and handling confidential information, they will also possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, sound judgement under pressure, and the ability to build credible relationships with diverse clients. Strong analytical skills, effective facilitation, the ability to interpret policy and employment law, and a flexible, organised approach to managing a demanding workload are essential. Competence in Microsoft Office and HR systems, alongside excellent time management and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, will be key to success in the role.
